MAKING CONNEXIONS: HOW CREATIVE SOURCING CAN BREAK NEW GROUND FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN

With nine locations worldwide, Material ConneXion boasts a global team of materials specialists who tend to the world’s largest library of advanced, innovative and sustainable materials made available to designers. Since it’s inception, Material ConneXion has provided creative professionals with opportunities for design research, material inspiration, aid in global sourcing and also advises on how to capitalize on new and emergent technologies that can help create outstanding packaging.

Graphic design for packaging is a sophisticated blend of advertising, branding and information design, and Randy Herbertson President, of Wonder Group LLC (part of Sandow Group, which also owns Material ConneXion) has extensive experience of all three having worked with many of the of the world’s leading consumer packaged goods companies.

Join us, January 5th 2012 for a joint talk by materials specialist Dr. Andrew Dent, PhD, Vice President of Library & Materials Research, at Material ConneXion and Randy Herbertson, to discuss how both materials know-how and creative thinking can create the ultimate partnership between innovation and creativity.

Randy Herbertson  –  President, Wonder Group LLC
Randy is a recognized brand strategist and creative director with over 20 years of marketing and innovation experience. Accomplished creative director he played a key role in a various product innovations and corporate transformations, which include a number of globally commercialized and award-winning packaging and industrial design solutions.  Randy has worked with a diverse range of companies and industries that include retail, finance, professional services, technology, entertainment, pharmaceutical, automotive, and consumer-packaged goods. He has spoken on numerous industry panels, and is a corporate mentor to a number of emerging companies.

Dr. Andrew H. Dent, PHD
As Vice President, Library & Materials Research, Dr. Andrew H. Dent plays a keyrole in the expansion of Material ConneXion’s technical knowledge base. His research directs the implementation of consulting projects and the selection of new materials to Material ConneXion’s Materials Library, which currently has over 6,5000 materials. Dr. Dent is a frequent speaker on sustainable material strategies and has contributed to many publications, most recently co-authoring Ultra Materials: How Materials Innovation is Changing the World. He received his Ph.D. in materials science from the Cambridge University in England.
