MUBI LAB
Designing a Cinematic Identity

Wednesday, September 23 2026
6:00–7:30 pm
MUBI LAB
Designing a Cinematic Identity
Where curatorial vision meets typography, motion, and print.
MUBI LAB: How MUBI’s creative team built a distinctive cinematic identity through typography, video editing, motion, and print design, creating a visual language that extends the platform’s curatorial vision across every touchpoint of its ecosystem.
We’re excited to have, Pablo Martín, Creative Director at MUBI, and Michelle Cho, Head of Creative at MUBI, as they share how their team brings that identity to life, from the systems and decisions behind the screen to the print and physical pieces that carry it into the world. Expect a behind-the-scenes look at process, collaboration, and craft, and how a small in-house team keeps a distinct point of view consistent across film, motion, and print.
Event Series: Design Spotlight

Pablo led the design firm Grafica with Fernando Gutiérrez, the most influential design studio in Spain for over two decades. Pablo was a typography teacher for more than fifteen years and has lectured all over the world. Michelle Cho
Michelle is a London-based editor and creative, and Head of Creative at MUBI. She joined the company in 2020 as an editor cutting trailers for the platform, and now leads a global in-house team of 34 designers, editors, and producers. Coming from a background in editing rather than design, she leads through story and craft, building the systems and creative direction that carry MUBI’s bold, independent filmmaking to audiences worldwide across streaming, theatrical, print, and beyond.
Alongside her work at MUBI, Michelle is co-founder of Other People, a production company dedicated to bringing rigorous, original visions to the screen. She holds an M.A. in Filmmaking from the London Film School. At Other People, she co-produced Siyabonga (We Are Thankful), directed by Joshua Magor, which screened in official competition at the Locarno Film Festival. In 2024 she was selected for the TIFF x CJ K-Story Fund, a programme supporting emerging Korean-American writer-directors.
