SMALL TALK NO. 1 IAN WRIGHT

AIGA/NY is excited to welcome Ian Wright to share and discuss his beautifully crafted, uniquely collaged portraits, as well as many of his other forward-thinking images.

A Londoner currently based in NYC, Wright has been making portraits across art and design since 1978 for clients such as Vitra, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nike and Issey Miyake. After a sharing a studio with designer Neville Brody at "The Face" magazine in 1981, Wright set up his own studio.

Enjoying the unpredictability they offer, his use of deliberately inexpensive materials has included salt,  cassette tape(s), pin buttons, mascara brushes and paper cups.

Wright’s illustrative artwork has been exhibited internationally, including the London Design Museum (2007), the Exposure Gallery (2007), the Cosh Gallery (2007), Rosemary Gardens (2005), Pentagram  Gallery (2005), Reed Space NYC (2006), Mass Production at The Christopher Henry Gallery (NYC) (2006), and Issey Miyake (2002), among others.

This night guarantees to be a peak into the fun world of this legendary designer.

SMALL TALKS SERIES
Extra large ideas find an intimate home in a formal setting. Small Talks at Bumble and bumble are opportunities to explore a panoply of visual ephemera, flights of fancy and literal brilliance. Passions will be exposed, methods unveiled, and stories shared in a series designed to provoke, inspire and delight.

JOIN US AFTERWARDS FOR POSTSCRIPT
Event attendees may reunite to discuss the evening's presentation at a location where food and drink - though not provided by AIGA/NY - are readily available. Catch up with old friends and make new ones at these informal "Postscript" gatherings.
