FRIDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2009 6:30–8:00PM
SMALL TALK NO. 3: TONY BROOk &
ADRIAN SHAUGHNESSY
360º + The Designer as Publisher
Tony Brook will paint an informal studio portrait of his London based design agency Spin, shedding light on the studio’s innovative work from high culture (V&A, White Chapel, Haunch of Venison and other art-world clients) to street culture (on-air work for Channel 4, Dmax and Discovery).
Tony will also present self-initiated work and explore his studio’s entrepreneurial leanings including his collaboration with Adrian Shaughnessy on Unit Editions, a new publishing house formed by Adrian and Tony. They'll show off their first book, ‘Studio Culture,’ an exploration of the secret life of the design studio. Come and hear from a designer who can actually make the font Baby Teeth look good, and match wits with an author who promises to reveal the single indispensable component of a successful design studio.
SMALL TALKS SERIES:
Extra large ideas find an intimate home in a formal setting. Small Talks at Bumble and bumble are opportunities to explore a panoply of visual ephemera, flights of fancy and literal brilliance. Passions will be exposed, methods unveiled, and stories shared in a series designed to provoke, inspire and delight.
SMALL TALKS ARE GENEROUSLY AND LOVINGLY SUPPORTED BY BUMBLE & BUMBLE AND BROOKLYN BREWERY.
