CLASSIC/CONTEMPORARY:
A CONVERSATION WITH LOUISE FILI
Join AIGA/NY and frog design for the first in our new series of intimate evenings exploring the line between Classic and Contemporary design. Listen to well-known designers discuss their influences and share how they keep the work fresh.
After working with the legendary Herb Lubalin, Louise Fili became Art Director of Pantheon Books for over 10 years, where she designed over 2000 book jackets.
Since founding Louise Fili Ltd. in 1989, she has expanded her repertoire to include restaurant identity and food packaging for Sarabeth’s, Bella Cucina, Artisanal, The Mermaid Inn, Union Pacific and Vong to name just a few. She has received awards from every major design competition and was recently inducted into the Art Directors Hall of Fame.
Along with Steven Heller, Fili has co-authored a series of books on Art Deco and Moderne packaging and typefaces. Among her newest design projects are a series of “civilized shoppers guides” to Florence and Rome.
