Small Talk No. 1: Paul Budnitz
Character Collector
Kidrobot is a gallery-store on Prince Street (with others in San Francisco and LA) that contains glass-case loads of cute and badass characters like Smorkin’ Labbit (an 8-inch pepto-bismol pink rabbit with an afternoon shadow and cigarette.) Hear how Paul Budnitz opened the store in 2002, designs the toys along with world-renowned artists, and continues to crest the urban vinyl, 12-inch action figure, and plush toy craze.
Small Talks is a series of intimate evenings featuring speakers from the
entire visual culture spectrum. They’ll show their work and discuss their passion for challenging, disrupting, and rebuilding given formats.
The events take place in the sumptuous 103-seat auditorium at Bumble and bumble’s stunning Meatpacking District headquarters. Preceded by wine and cheese in the meticulously appointed Bumble library, AIGA/NY Small Talks are clearly the most exclusive design events in town.
Apple Computer, Inc. is the exclusive sponsor of Small Talks, and we greatly appreciate their support.
